National Museum of China
The National Museum of China (NMC), located on the east side of Tian’anmen Square in Beijing, is China's premier institution for collecting, researching, displaying, and interpreting cultural relics. The museum's roots can be traced to the Preparatory Office of the National Museum of History, founded in 1912. In 2003, it merged with the National Museum of Chinese Revolution to form the current National Museum of China. After a major renovation and expansion completed in 2011, the museum became the world's largest single-building museum, with a floor area of nearly 200,000 square meters.
